What is Eagle Ford Shale?
Eagle Ford Shale (often spelled EagleFord) is a shale rock formation located in South Texas. The formation houses vast amounts of oil and natural gas and is currently being drilled and hydraulically fractured (also called fracked or hydrofracked) by major oil and gas energy companies including ConocoPhillps, Shell Oil, Andarko, EOG Resources, Swift Energy and many others. It is named after the town of Eagle Ford outside of Dallas, TX.
